The Chief Minister’s Girl Child Protection Scheme – II is an initiative of the Social Welfare and Women Empowerment Department, Government of Tamil Nadu. This scheme supports girl children from economically weaker households by providing financial assistance, promoting girl child education, ensuring economic security, and preventing female infanticide.

  • ₹50,000/- deposited by the government for eligible girls.
  • Amount is given to the girl after she completes:
    • 18 years of age
    • 10th standard education (minimum)
    • Remain unmarried till 18 years
  • Encourages girls to pursue higher education and skill training.

  • Girl child must be a resident of Tamil Nadu.
  • Family must belong to an economically weaker section.
  • Parents should have undergone sterilization after the birth of the girl child.

  • Family income must be within the limits fixed by the government.

Parents/guardians can apply for the scheme by following the steps below:

  1. Visit the nearest Social Welfare Department Office or District Social Welfare Office.
  2. Obtain the application form for Girl Child Protection Scheme – II.
  3. Fill in the required details and attach the necessary documents.
  4. Submit the form to the concerned officer for verification.
  5. Once approved, the financial deposit will be made in the bank
    account under the girl child's name.

Note: Some districts also accept applications through the e-Sevai centers via the respective department portal.
